INDUSTRY ACCREDITATION AND MEMBERSHIP

Marpal is committed to providing customers with a highly skilled and trained workforce. An important element of this is our accreditation with the NICEIC.

The NICEIC is an accredited certification body set up to protect users of electricity against the hazards of unsafe and unsound electrical installations. It is the industry's independent electrical safety regulatory body. The NICEIC is a non-profit making body and a registered charity. It is not a trade association. Marpal is an approved NICEIC Contractor, which ensures that all our work is carried out to the highest standard.

CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.

Health & Safety Policy

Marpal conforms to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and its attendant regulations. It is our policy to provide, maintain and seek to improve standards of health and safety. Safe working practices, which safeguard all employees and result in safe working conditions and efficient operation, will be followed. Marpal also assumes obligations in relation to the Heath and Safety of members of the public and sub-contractors of various kinds who may require access to working environments under Marpal control.

Health and Safety Procedures

Marpal ensures that all staff are aware of their responsibilities while at work. All policies and procedures apply on customer sites and premises as well as Marpal’s own premises. On customer sites, the senior team member will have overall responsibility for enforcing Health and Safety and site specific Health and Safety procedures will be issued to all team members. General points include that all staff have a responsibility:

  • To take reasonable care of their own and others’ health and safety in their immediate work environment, including ensuring they are wearing the correct protective clothing and that they conduct themselves in a safe manner, leaving their work area neat and tidy and safe at all times.
  • To co-operate with all parties so that they may comply with their obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act and its attendant regulations, familiarising themselves with local Health and Safety rules including the location of fire extinguishers, access/egress to the building and the location of the Health and Safety notice boards.
  • Not to interfere with or misuse any equipment or materials provided in the interest of health, safety or welfare either intentionally or recklessly.
  • To bring to the attention of their Manager any concerns or complaints they have concerning health and safety matters, reporting faulty equipment, incorrect signage, poorly maintained equipment and working practices.
  • To ensure that they do not undertake any duties on their own for which they have not been fully trained.

Safety audits are regularly carried out on sites to ensure that all legislation an local rules are being
complied with. Appropriate training will always be given where necessary and all sites operate a no- smoking policy at all times.

All operatives have a minimum of CSCS qualification.
